In my studio the first thing that greets the eye is a resounding burst of color. My paintings are based on the reality of the landscape that balances between realism and abstraction. Placing my work between these two realms takes a sensitivity of purpose. My paintings embody the tree formation as its structure. I live near a wooded area and stable my horse nearby. I find myself being inspired by my environment and my experiences.
The interplay of color is a setting on the verge of abstraction. I apply color in an intuitive manner that provides opportunity for expressive brushwork. The strong color and animated brushwork offers a rich visual language.
The aim of my work is to awaken an emotion in the viewer that is a shared web of consciousness between us. This represents the experience of place and restores to our consciousness our environment on which life depends.
There is a role for painting in today's society - to nourish the human spirit. This is what I am supposed to do in this lifetime.
